hipages Cost for Tradies in 2026: Plans, Credits and the Real Price of a Job

ByEdris Nazari·Geelong, Victoria·Built 30+ tradie websites

hipages costs a tradie between $139 and $649 a month plus GST, according to its own membership page in October 2026. The monthly fee buys credits, and you spend those credits to accept job leads. Each lead goes to up to three businesses, so you are often paying to compete with other tradies for the same job. New members sign up for 6 months, and the plan then renews on a 12 month term.

That is the short answer. The longer answer is what a job actually costs you once you count shared leads, the leads you do not win and the contract you are locked into. This guide works through it with hipages' own published numbers, so you can do the sum for your trade.

How much does hipages cost a tradie?

hipages has four main packages: Starter at $139, Advanced at $249, Premium at $449 and Platinum at $649, all per month plus GST. Businesses with more than 10 employees can talk to hipages about a Pro plan listed at $2,049 plus GST a month. Every package starts with a 6 month introductory term, then renews for 12 months.

These are the prices on hipages' membership costs page, checked on 7 October 2026. Paying a year upfront takes 5% off. There are no setup fees, according to the same page.

Prices move. A tradie on r/australia reported in October 2022 that the cheapest package offered to them was $109 a month on a 6 month contract. Check the live page before you sign anything.

hipages membership packages and prices

The four lead packages differ in three ways: how many credits you get each month, how many postcodes your profile appears in, and how long unused credits roll over. Starter gives 155 credits and one postcode. Platinum gives 850 credits and ten postcodes. The table lists every package exactly as hipages publishes it.

Every package also includes a business profile, the hipages job management app, review management and the option to pause for up to a month. Advanced and above come with an account manager. hipages also sells an Essentials plan at $29 plus GST a month, but that is job management software only. It does not include leads.

How hipages credits work

You do not pay a set price per lead. Your subscription gives you monthly credits, and each lead costs a number of credits to accept. hipages decides that number based on the trade, the location, the size of the job and supply and demand, and it can change at any time until the job is marked as hired.

That is from hipages' own job leads and credits policy. The policy also says its "matching engine" adjusts credit amounts based on job type, size, urgency, location, when the job was posted, how many similar jobs are around and forecast demand from tradies. In plain terms, the price of a lead moves, and you only see it when the lead arrives.

If you run out of credits before the month ends, you can buy a top-up credit pack or move to a bigger package. Credits also expire, so the ones you do not use within the rollover window are gone.

What a credit is worth in dollars depends on the package you are on. Divide the monthly price by the credits:

PackagePrice (ex GST)CreditsCost per credit (ex GST)
Starter$139155about $0.90
Advanced$249310about $0.80
Premium$449595about $0.75
Platinum$649850about $0.76

Worked out from hipages' published package prices and credit counts. Bonus and loyalty credits would bring the real cost per credit down a little.

How much does a hipages lead cost?

hipages does not publish a fixed price per lead. It depends on how many credits the lead needs. 20 Minute Marketing, an Australian agency, put the typical range at $25 to $80 per lead for most categories in May 2026. Tradies on Reddit have reported paying anywhere between $3 and $120+ for a single lead.

Those are estimates from outside hipages, not hipages' own numbers. Lead costs swing a lot by trade, suburb and job size.

Here is what the third party range means for each package. If your leads cost the equivalent of $25 to $80 each, Starter's $139 covers roughly two to five leads a month. Platinum's $649 covers roughly eight to twenty-five. Those are rough numbers, and they are leads, not jobs.

Does hipages take a percentage of the job?

No. hipages does not take a commission or a percentage of what you charge the customer. Its own FAQ says so directly. You pay through the monthly subscription and the credits you spend on leads. Whether you win a $300 job or a $30,000 renovation from a lead, hipages takes nothing extra from the job itself.

That is a real difference from marketplaces that take a cut of the job price, and it is worth knowing if you are comparing platforms. It also means the whole cost sits upfront. You pay to see the lead and talk to the customer, whether or not you get the job.

The shared lead maths

hipages' own FAQ says every lead is capped at three businesses. That means you are usually competing with up to two other tradies for the same job. You pay credits to accept the lead either way, so the real cost of hipages is the cost per job you actually win, not the cost per lead.

20 Minute Marketing's May 2026 analysis puts average performance at around 1 in 5 quotes won, with strong performers winning about 1 in 3 and weaker ones 1 in 8 or worse. Here is what that does to a lead that costs $40, an example inside their $25 to $80 range:

You winLeads paid for per jobLead cost per job won
1 in 33$120
1 in 55$200
1 in 88$320

That table is a worked example, not a quote. Your own numbers will be different. The point is that a small change in how many quotes you win changes your cost per job far more than the package you are on.

And that is before your time. Every lead you accept is a phone call, often a site visit, and a written quote. One tradie in an August 2025 r/AusRenovation thread called them "excessive prices to pay for leads that have no guarantee of getting jobs, lots of tyre kickers."

What a year on hipages costs

Twelve months on Starter costs $1,668 plus GST, or $1,834.80 including GST. Twelve months on Platinum costs $7,788 plus GST, or $8,566.80 including GST. The least you can commit to as a new member is the 6 month introductory term: $834 plus GST on Starter, $3,894 plus GST on Platinum.

Package6 month intro term (ex GST)12 months (ex GST)12 months (inc GST)
Starter$834$1,668$1,834.80
Advanced$1,494$2,988$3,286.80
Premium$2,694$5,388$5,926.80
Platinum$3,894$7,788$8,566.80

Worked out from hipages' published monthly prices. Paying upfront for 12 months takes 5% off, according to the same page. Top-up credit packs are extra.

The hipages contract: 6 months, then 12

New hipages subscriptions start on a 6 month introductory term and then renew on a 12 month term. hipages says it will tell you before that renewal happens. There is a seven day cooling off period, but only if you have not accepted any leads. Accept one lead in your first week and the cooling off period is gone.

That last point catches people. In a December 2022 r/AusRenovation thread titled "Hipages heads-up for tradies", one poster said their uncle tried to cancel during the cooling off period, agreed on the phone to "give it another couple of days", and was told that counted as accepting a lead. They ended up paying about $200 a month for 6 months. That is one person's account, not a finding, but it shows why you should read the terms before you tap anything in the app.

You can pause a subscription for 14 to 31 days during the introductory term, and twice (up to 62 days in total) on the 12 month term. The term is extended by the length of the pause, and you cannot accept leads while paused. That is from hipages' membership FAQ, which points to clause 16 of its tradie terms.

What the ACCC found about hipages in 2023

In May 2023 the ACCC accepted a court-enforceable undertaking from hipages. hipages admitted it likely broke the Australian Consumer Law between October 2018 and January 2022 by not clearly telling subscribers about automatic renewal and early termination fees. It agreed to fix its disclosure, review complaints and remediate affected subscribers.

The ACCC's Deputy Chair at the time, Mick Keogh, said: "Many subscribers were unaware that they had to specifically opt out of hipages' automatic 12-month renewal, and that there was only a very short cooling off period in which they could avoid paying an early termination fee." He also said some people who tried to cancel auto-renewed contracts were told they would have to pay out the full 12 month term.

hipages also admitted that between April 2020 and April 2021 it likely told some subscribers they needed to take extra steps to cancel, when they had already given valid notice. Coverage of the release noted hipages had more than 34,000 subscribers at the time, paying between $25 and $999 a month.

To be fair to hipages, this was an undertaking, not a court penalty, and the current membership page now says plainly that it will tell you before your plan renews. The lesson for a tradie is simple: diarise your renewal date the day you sign up.

Extra costs to budget for

The subscription is not the only cost. Budget for top-up credit packs if you run out, SMS lead alerts (hipages charges extra for those), the Review management plus add-on at $49 plus GST a month if you want it, and your own unpaid time quoting jobs you will not win.

Here is the full list in one place:

  • Top-up credits. Sold separately if your monthly credits run out. hipages' credits policy says credits must be used within the period on your plan or pack.
  • SMS notifications. hipages' FAQ says lead alerts by SMS cost "an additional fee". App and email alerts are included.
  • Review management plus. An optional add-on listed at $49 plus GST a month.
  • Your time. Calls, site visits and written quotes for jobs that go to someone else.
  • Price pressure. When the homeowner has three quotes side by side, the job can turn into a race to the bottom on price.

How to work out if hipages pays for you

Take your monthly package price, add any top-ups, and divide by the number of jobs you actually won from hipages that month. That is your cost per job. Compare it with your average profit per job. If the cost per job eats more of your margin than you are comfortable losing, hipages is too expensive for you.

Do it with real numbers from the last three months, not the first two weeks. Write down:

  • Total spent on hipages, including top-ups.
  • Number of leads accepted.
  • Number of quotes sent.
  • Number of jobs won, and the profit on each.

If you do not track it, you cannot tell whether hipages is paying you or you are paying hipages. The lead cost calculator does the same sum for any platform. We go through when it is worth it, and when it is not, in is hipages worth it?.

hipages compared with your own website over a year

A year on hipages Starter costs $1,668 plus GST, and the leads are shared with other tradies. A year with an Ampliia Build costs $1,700 in the first year ($500 setup, then $100 a month), and every enquiry through the site goes only to you. The two are not either-or. Plenty of tradies run both.

hipages StarterAmpliia Build

A website is not a magic lead machine either. It needs your Google Business Profile, reviews and suburb pages to do its job, and it takes time to build up. But the enquiries it brings are not shared and do not cost credits. We compare the two in more detail in hipages vs your own website.

If you are a plumber, electrician or painter weighing this up, our trade pages show what a full Build includes: websites for plumbers, websites for electricians and websites for painters.

Frequently asked questions

How much is hipages per month?

hipages' membership page lists Starter at $139, Advanced at $249, Premium at $449 and Platinum at $649 per month, all plus GST, as of October 2026. Businesses with more than 10 employees can ask about Pro at $2,049 plus GST. The fee buys credits, which you spend to accept job leads.

Does hipages take a percentage?

No. hipages says it takes no commission and no percentage of your earnings on jobs. You pay through your monthly subscription and the credits you spend accepting leads. That means you pay to see a lead whether or not you win the job, but nothing more if you do win it.

How many credits does a hipages lead cost?

It varies. hipages says the number of credits depends on the trade, location, job size and supply and demand, and can change until the job is marked as hired. On Starter, a credit works out to about 90 cents before GST, so a lead's dollar cost is roughly its credits times 90 cents.

Can you cancel hipages?

You can cancel within the seven day cooling off period as long as you have not accepted any leads, according to hipages' FAQ. After that you are on the 6 month introductory term, which then renews for 12 months. hipages says it will tell you before the renewal. Diarise that date the day you sign up.

Is the hipages price GST inclusive?

No. hipages lists its prices plus GST. Starter at $139 plus GST is $152.90 a month including GST, and Platinum at $649 plus GST is $713.90. If you are registered for GST you can usually claim it back as a business expense, but check with your accountant first.
