The Problem

Why most Gold Coast trade websites miss the local job.

The Gold Coast is a city of suburbs that don't behave alike. A unit owner in Surfers Paradise wants a balcony waterproofed, a family in a new Coomera estate wants a driveway and a fence, and a couple in Burleigh Heads are redoing a 1970s bathroom. They all search by trade and suburb.

A five-page site with a suburb list in the footer gives Google one page for every one of those searches. The alternative most tradies are quoted is a typical agency at $3,000 to $15,000, often with half upfront before you see a page.

The city keeps adding people and homes. The City of Gold Coast grew by 11,944 people in 2024-25 and approved 7,586 new homes in 2025-26, second only to Brisbane among Australian councils. New estates in the north need every trade, and the older coastal suburbs keep renovating.

Then there is your licence. The QBCC counts your website as advertising, so it has to show your licence name and QBCC licence number. A site that only shows your trading name will most likely be non-compliant, the QBCC says.

Ampliia builds a 30+ page site with a page for every service and every Gold Coast suburb you work, your QBCC details on every page, and quote requests going straight to your phone.

The Gold Coast Market

More people and more homes than any council outside a capital.

These are the ABS figures for the City of Gold Coast council area, the numbers behind the suburbs we write pages for.

Suburb Pages

The Gold Coast suburbs our Builds target.

We don't publish suburb pages for ourselves. The first and last groups are real pages on our Clients' Builds. The middle one shows how we map the northern growth corridor for a new Client.

QLD Licence Rules

What a Gold Coast tradie website has to show.

The QBCC lists websites as advertising, alongside vehicle signage and flyers, so your site follows the same rules as the sign on your ute.

  • ·Your licence name and QBCC licence number, easily legible and reasonably prominent. The QBCC says an ad with only a trading name will most likely be non-compliant, so we put your licence name and number on every page, next to your trading name.
  • ·Electricians show one more number. Electrical contractors must include their registered name and electrical contractor licence number on all advertising, websites included. We add it to every page of an electrician's Build.
  • ·Building work over $3,300 needs a QBCC licence, and unlicensed tradies must say so in their ads, for example: Cannot perform building work valued in excess of $3,300. Plumbing, drainage and gas fitting need a licence at any value.
  • ·Under section 54 of the QBCC Act, the maximum penalty for non-compliant advertising is $6,044 for an individual licensee and $30,222 for a company.
  • ·Working south of the border? Tweed Heads is in New South Wales, where residential building work over $5,000 needs an NSW contractor licence and your licence number has to be in your advertising. If you take jobs in Tweed, check with NSW Fair Trading too.

This is general information, not legal advice. Check with the QBCC, and with NSW Fair Trading for work in New South Wales. QBCC → · QLD licence rules guide →
