A blocked drain does not wait. Neither does a hot water system that died on a Sunday morning with three kids in the house. When that happens, the homeowner does one thing: pulls out a phone and searches.
Whoever shows up first with a phone number they can tap gets the job. That is the whole contest. It is not decided by who is the better plumber. It is decided by who is visible at the moment the problem starts.
Most plumbers lose that contest before it begins, because they have no site, or they have a five-page template that does not mention drain clearing, does not mention their suburb, and does not have a phone number above the fold.
Emergency work is a different kind of search
There are two sorts of plumbing job, and they behave nothing alike.
The first is planned work. A bathroom renovation, a new hot water system before the old one goes, gas fitting for a kitchen upgrade. The homeowner researches for a week, gets three quotes, and picks carefully.
The second is emergency work. Burst pipe, blocked sewer, no hot water, leaking toilet. The homeowner is standing in a wet hallway. They are not comparing quotes. They are calling the first plumber who looks local and picks up.
Your website has to serve both, and most sites serve neither. A "Services" page with a bullet list saying "blocked drains" tells Google nothing and tells the panicking homeowner nothing either.
Give every job its own page
A plumber in a decent-sized area does maybe eight or ten distinct jobs. Blocked drains. Hot water repair. Hot water replacement. Burst pipes. Gas fitting. Leak detection. Toilet and tap repairs. Bathroom renovations. Backflow testing. CCTV drain inspection.
Each of those is a different search. A homeowner types "blocked drain [suburb]", not "plumber". If your site has one page called Services that lists all ten as bullet points, there is no page for Google to show for any of them.
Give each one its own page. Write what the job actually involves, what it usually costs to look at, how fast you can get there, and what the homeowner should do in the meantime. Then put a quote form and a tap-to-call button on it.
Do the same for suburbs. If you cover twelve suburbs across an area, that is twelve more pages, each written for plumbing work in that specific place. Ten services and twelve suburbs is already twenty two pages. That is why our Builds run 20 to 30+ pages and not five.
Put the phone number where a wet hand can hit it
This matters more for plumbing than almost any other trade, because so much of the work is urgent.
The phone number goes at the top of every page, as a button, sized for a thumb. Not in the footer. Not as small text in a header that shrinks on mobile. A button.
Every one of our Builds is put together mobile first at 375px, because the homeowner is not at a desk. They are standing next to the problem holding a phone in one hand.
The quote form sits on every page too, for the jobs that are not urgent. Someone planning a bathroom reno at ten at night does not want to ring anyone. They want to type what they need and get a call back tomorrow.
The shared lead problem hits plumbers hardest
hipages, Airtasker, Oneflare, Bark. You pay for a lead, and then three or four other plumbers in your area get sent the same one.
For emergency work this is worse than it looks. Everybody gets the lead at the same moment, everybody rings the same homeowner within minutes, and the homeowner takes whoever got through first and hangs up on the rest. You paid for the privilege of being second.
Then there is the pricing pressure. When a homeowner has four plumbers ringing about the same blocked drain, the conversation turns into a race to the bottom on price. You are not competing on being reliable or being close by. You are competing on being cheapest, against people who have the same cost problem you do.
A site that ranks for "blocked drain [suburb]" sends the enquiry to one plumber. You. No race, no auction, no split.
What it costs to have your own
The Setup Fee is A$500.
A$100 Deposit starts the Build. We take your services, your suburbs, your licence details, your phone number, your logo and your job photos, then build the whole site. The Preview is ready within 3 business days of the Deposit and your details landing.
You see the entire finished site before you pay anything else. Changes are made until you are happy, with no limit on rounds and no extra charge. The A$400 Balance is only due once you approve it. Live after that, usually the same day.
The Care Plan keeps the site hosted, maintained and looked after month to month. The price is agreed with you on the call, before any Deposit is paid, because it depends on the size of the Build.
Put that next to what a month of shared leads costs and the maths tends to answer itself.
What we need from you
Your business name and licence number. The plumbing services you offer. The suburbs you want work in. A phone number. Your logo if you have one. Photos of real jobs, the more the better.
You do not write anything. You do not pick a layout or choose colours. We handle the copy, the design and the build, and you tell us what to change.
Photos of real work beat anything else
A photo of a trench you dug, a hot water unit you installed, a drain camera shot of the blockage you cleared. These do more for a plumbing site than any stock image ever will.
Homeowners are trying to work out whether you are a real business or someone with a ute and a website. Real photos of your own jobs settle that question in about two seconds. We do not use stock photos of people in hard hats, and we do not use AI images.
Frequently asked questions
Do plumbers need a separate page for emergency work?
Yes. Emergency callouts and planned work are completely different searches made by completely different people. One page cannot serve a burst pipe at midnight and a bathroom renovation being planned over a month.
How many pages does a plumbing website need?
Usually 20 to 30+. One for each plumbing service you offer and one for each suburb you cover, plus the home, about, contact and quote pages.
What does a plumber's website cost?
The Setup Fee is A$500, paid as a A$100 Deposit to start and a A$400 Balance on Approval. The Preview is ready within 3 business days of the Deposit and your details.
