Websites for Carpenters in Australia

A carpenter's website should sell the finished things Homeowners search for, not the trade itself. Decking, pergolas, built in storage, stairs and door hanging are typed into phones every day; the word "carpenter" mostly is not. A Build with a page per product and a page per suburb costs A$500 to set up, with a A$100 Deposit to start.

If you mainly subcontract framing to builders, the website is how you stop depending on two phone numbers for your entire year.

What is the difference between a carpenter's site and a builder's site?

Scope, price and who is doing the searching.

A builder's website sells whole projects: extensions, renovations, knock down rebuilds. The buyer is spending six figures and takes months to decide. We wrote about that in the guide to websites for builders.

A carpenter's website sells defined items. A deck. A pergola. A set of stairs. Six internal doors hung. A wardrobe fit out. The buyer is spending a few thousand and decides in a fortnight.

Both are real businesses. They just need different pages, different photos and different price framing. If you do both, the site should separate them clearly so neither buyer feels like they are in the wrong place.

What should a chippy put a page on?

The things people search for by name.

Decking. Timber deck repairs and restoration. Pergolas and verandahs. Carports. Privacy screens. Internal door hanging and replacement. Skirting and architraves. Built in wardrobes and storage. Staircases and handrails. Timber flooring. Shop and office fit outs. Framing and structural carpentry. Window replacement.

Thirteen pages, each written about the job, what it involves, what affects the price and how long it takes. That is thirteen ways to be found instead of one.

Does decking deserve the most attention?

For most carpenters, yes.

Decking is the highest volume retail carpentry search in Australia, it is seasonal, it has a clear price per square metre, and the Homeowner can picture it. It is also full of decisions they want help with: merbau against treated pine against composite, oiling schedules, whether a permit is needed above a certain height, how long the timber takes to weather.

A deck page that answers those questions honestly will pull more work than the rest of the site combined. Write about the maintenance too. Telling someone a timber deck needs oiling every year or two costs you nothing and buys a lot of trust.

Should you say whether you are licensed?

Yes, and be precise about what your licence covers.

Carpentry licensing differs by state, and the line between what a carpenter can do alone and what needs a registered builder moves depending on the value and type of the work. Homeowners have no idea where that line sits.

A short, plain section on every page saying what you hold, what you are covered for and where you bring in a builder or an engineer removes doubt. It also stops you being asked to quote work you cannot legally sign off.

Why do carpenters need suburb pages?

Because decks and pergolas are bought locally, and a page per suburb is how a search engine matches you to the search.

Someone looking for a deck in a particular suburb is comparing three or four nearby carpenters. If there is no page on your site about that place, you are not in the comparison.

Write each suburb page about the carpentry work that actually comes up there. Older suburbs mean deck replacements and rotten bearers. Newer estates mean first decks, privacy screens and small pergolas. Thirteen services and twelve suburbs is twenty five pages, which is the usual size of one of our Builds, structured to improve local search visibility.

What photos work best for carpentry?

Finished work with the joinery visible, and at least one shot showing scale.

A deck photographed from the corner, showing the boards running away and the stairs at the end, sells better than a flat top down shot. For pergolas, include the posts and the roof junction. For fit outs and storage, open the doors.

Take a photo of the framing before it is covered too. Straight noggins and clean bearers are the part a builder or a picky Homeowner will notice, and nobody else shows it. We do not use stock photos or AI images, so the site carries your own work.

What does a carpentry website cost?

The Setup Fee is A$500.

A$100 Deposit starts the Build. We take your services, your suburbs, your licence and insurance details, your logo and your job photos, and build the site. The Preview is ready within 3 business days of the Deposit and your details landing.

You see the whole finished site before you pay anything else. Changes are made until you are happy, with no cap on rounds and no extra charge. The A$400 Balance is due only on Approval. Live after that, usually the same day.

The Care Plan keeps the site hosted and looked after. The price depends on the size of the Build and is agreed with you on the call.

Frequently asked questions

I subcontract to builders. Is a website worth it?

That is the case for getting one. Subcontract work can stop with a single phone call when a builder slows down. Retail deck and pergola work found through your own site is income nobody else can switch off.

Should the site list a price per square metre for decking?

A range is better than nothing. Say what treated pine usually lands at, what merbau or composite adds, and what pushes a job up: height off the ground, sloping sites, stairs, balustrade and council requirements.

Do I need a separate page for deck repairs?

Yes. Repairing an old deck and building a new one are different searches with different urgency. Repair enquiries also tend to convert faster because the problem already exists.

What happens after the site goes live?

The Care Plan keeps it hosted, maintained and looked after month to month, at a price agreed with you on the call. Your domain, logo, photos and words stay yours either way, and the A$1,000 Buyout hands you the files whenever you want them.
